Training the Next Generation of Growers

We opened our demonstration facility to agriculture students for a hands-on season of learning. From sensor calibration to crop scheduling, the next generation got to work alongside our agronomists.

Many of those students now run growing operations of their own.

The season was deliberately hands-on. Rather than lecture from the front, our agronomists handed students the sensors, the schedules, and the responsibility - and let them learn, as growers always have, by doing and occasionally by getting it wrong.

By the end, the students were running sections of the facility largely on their own, debating crop choices and fine-tuning climate settings with a confidence that surprised even their mentors. Several stayed in touch long after the program closed.

Today a number of them manage growing operations of their own, carrying forward not just techniques but a way of thinking about food, resources, and resilience.
